Owned by the popular Buzzfeed organization, Tasty brings an all-in-one cooking application for users who love spending time in the kitchen. It’s a free to download application available on the Google Play Store and iTunes without any kind of in-app purchases. That’s right: it’s an actual free app.

Buzzfeed has received some heat in the past for releasing controversial content but Tasty is definitely not one of them. Dedicated solely to foodies and cooks all around the world, Tasty has a library full of just about any kind of recipe you need. Tasty has come a long way in terms of its history. At first it was a part of Buzzfeed but with its growing popularity, it received its own dedicated channel, website and now an entire application.

The app design really stands out for us. It’s innovative, colorful and brings out just the right mood to get those pots and pans on the stove. Think of it like a smartphone cookbook in your hands. Instead of wasting ink on paper to jot down your recipes or searching online on several different websites and YouTube channel for your recipes, you can find everything in this one app.

Of course, Tasty only hosts recipes that are unique to the platform and does not include any recipe from external sources but there are over 3000 recipes to view so we’re not complaining. You might not find a less known, special traditional dish on this app but you will be able to discover a lot of variety anyway especially the most popular cuisines.

Tasty provides step-by-step instructions for each and every recipe including a video of the recipe that you can view anytime. The step by step instructions are great and help you move along progressively instead of you trying to keep up or searching for the next step.

On the Tasty application, you can add your favorite recipes to the ‘My Recipe’ page. The menu page also features a very advanced search tool so that you can search any recipe in the app’s library in seconds. You’ll need to connect with the internet of course for this. The search tool lets you find recipes through filters for specific ingredients, cuisines, low-carb, high-proteins, vegetarian or vegan, healthy, comfort foods and much more.

Speaking of vegetarians, you can also personalize the settings on the Tasty app to hide every recipe in the library that includes meat in it. Vegans can do the same to exclude recipes that contain meat, dairy or any animal products. This setting can be changed anytime as per your liking.

The app also constantly keeps your phone awake and notifies you of any new recipes that you might be interested in. Users of the Tasty app also get recommendation of the recipes they might like based on the recipes they have tried and added to their ‘My Recipes’ page. The recommendation feature also recommends recipes tailored to special events and holidays to spark some new family dinner ideas for you.

You can also save recipes for offline use on the Tasty app however there’s no way to organize these recipes which can be a bummer especially if you want to save a lot of different recipes. Tasty is definitely an app that is close to perfection but certain app design improvements and technical improvements can make it even better.
