Summoners War description

Summoners War is a classic RPG strategy game with the prime objective of collecting resources and upgrading monsters. It has quite the appeal for teenagers and children alike with its spectacular graphics, a sound narrative and some well-developed combat but it’s not exactly the most kid friendly RPG game we’ve seen. Nonetheless, Summoners War deserves at least a shot because it mixes in some new gaming formats and objectives that are seldom seen in games of its type.

The Review

The art of Summoners War seeks inspiration from a modern anime and so this app is one that anime fans will be drawn to before even understanding what’s it about. Summoners Wars doesn’t have a very rich plotline or well-developed characters but it does bring a good narrative to our screen with the plotline it features.

Players exist in the Sky Arena where war has been replaced by a systematic, more peaceful battle style. Although combat is an important element of Summoners Wars, there are little to no themes of actual violence, blood of gore. In fact, characters don’t even die in the game.

Summoners in the Sky Arena battle each other to get their hands on Mana Crystals. Battles remind us of a classic Pokemon game where players have to summon monsters to battle instead of participating in the action themselves. The more the monsters you have, the more powerful you are. There are over 1000 different types of monsters featured in this game. You can also upgrade them to make them even more indestructible. These upgrades include giving them special abilities for combat.

Summoners War is a highly strategic role-playing game that requires tact to really make it through to the later levels. There are over 21 different Rune sets in the game to choose from to make your gaming experience even more immersive.

There is also an aspect of customization in Summoners War. With the resources you collect or buy during your progress in the game, you can build and decorate your own magical kingdom. You can also engage in crafting and craft over 100 items in the game at the Craft building. These items include High Runes, Statues, special buildings, and more. Crafting is a relatively newer feature in Summoners War and one that has been received by the user base quite well.

Summoners War can be played either as a single players against CPU opponents or online with random strangers or with your friends. Players can also join guilds or alliances to lead raids together on enemy territory. In Summoners War, there is also an option to communicate with other players. After level 10, the in-game chat becomes unlocked where you can plan your battle strategies or just commune with your friends. This chat feature, however, isn’t the most filtered so it might not be totally appropriate for children.

Speaking of content, there is also objectionable content when it comes to female characters in the game. Female characters are highly sexualized and are seen wearing extremely skimpy clothes. This is another reason why we think parents should tread carefully when letting their children play Summoners War.

Although a free to play game, Summoners War offers quite a handful of in-app purchases. These in-app purchases will make your progress in the game a lot easier. In fact, sometimes you may be tempted to buy a special feature with real money when you feel the game is progressing too slowly – and that happens a lot! Plus, with the game constantly tempting you to buy these purchases doesn’t help. Summoners War can easily transform from a free to play game to a money grabbing application.
