Developers Kwalee have come up with a puzzle game that is unique in its gaming format but still reminds us of most puzzle games in the app store. The objective of Looper is to make sure the glowing balls you release by tapping in the patterns don’t collide with each other. That’s pretty much all you need to do in the game. Timing is what matters most in Looper topped with a little bit of luck and strategy.

For beginners, Looper may seem like a confusing game. There isn’t any helpful tutorial to make you understand what the game is about and what you really have to do. After a few levels of trial and error, though, you understand the theme and goal of the game. The game recommends that you play it with the music on. While we’re not really sure how this helps in making the levels easier, playing with your headphones on actually makes Looper a lot more entertaining.

Each level in the game has a different pattern with could be as simple as rings of balls or as complex as the symbol of an atom. As you progress to higher levels, you’ll soon find patterns getting more and more complex with more glowing balls to fire and making sure they don’t collide with each other or any other object in their pathway.

Although Looper is a simple enough game, it can get frustrating pretty quickly. In more complex levels, wrong timing can make you restart the level over and over again which has to be the most annoying feeling. Plus, the long ads in between every two levels or so don’t help. The worst part is that you can’t even skip these ads and they’re not short at all. You’ll need to sit and watch them to the end before you can try again playing but by that time you’ve probably lost the tempo and your interest in the game.

Nonetheless, Looper still makes passing time fun. The art is vibrant and ecstatic and once you clear a level and get the music flowing, the colors grow even more diverse and appealing. Plus, you can unlock new balls to play with. These balls can be unlocked after you’ve reached a certain target. You can also make in-app purchases to clear levels more easily or to get your hands on the more rare type of energy balls. There are tons of levels to play from in Looper and the number of levels is constantly increasing with each new update of the game. The levels are organized in the form of ‘worlds’ with some special or bonus levels and worlds that you can play after you’ve cleared a certain number of levels. You can also share your progress and achievements with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Although the ad problem in Looper is imminent, players can always opt for the ad-free version of that game which, of course, has to be purchased with real money.
