Exploding Kittens is a popular card game that you can buy from their website or through Amazon. The app takes after this real-life card game and produces an accurate version of it for mobile. However you can’t expect it to give you the exact same experience as the original game would. Nonetheless Exploding Kittens does a good job in executing the concept of this card game and it’s backed up with some pretty awesome graphics as well.

All illustrations and art are done by The Oatmeal which produces lively comics that are sure to give you a laugh. You can play this game with 2 to 5 friend or you can enter the online multiplayer mode and play with strangers across the world. This multiplayer card game is pretty fun but you also need a certain amount of strategy and luck to ace it.

If you’re not familiar with what goes on in the actual game of Exploding Kittens, here’s a little summary of the instructions for you: in this game players draw cards from their decks until someone draws an Exploding Kitten. If you happen to be the one that has drawn the Exploding Kitten card at any point in the game it means you’re out. There’s a catch though – you can use the Defuse card to defuse your kitten as well. These defuse cards come in all kinds of different things from laser pointers and belly rubs to catnip sandwiches. The rest of the cards in the deck are used to move or avoid the Exploding Kittens cards. There are also some cards that can help mitigate the Exploding Kittens.

Exploding kittens requires strategy but it’s also a pretty exciting game with a lot of fun to offer. The app design is wonderful to say the least. Everything from the beautifully illustrated artwork by The Oatmeal to the goofy sound effects elevates the atmosphere of the game. This digital version of Exploding Kittens does a pretty good job in development and catching a similar essence of the original card game, however; it’s not all good news with this game.

There are some areas where Exploding Kittens falls back. For starters the online multiplayer mode has a chat option which isn’t strictly regulated and might not be appropriate for children. There are also some flawed features in the game. Shuffling the deck doesn’t always respond swift and there are other minor bugs splayed across the course of the game.

Exploding Kittens also offers additional in-app purchases apart from the main download price you have to pay. These paid features are optional but pretty enticing. The app constantly tries to shove these in-app purchases on you and promise you greater advantages.

Overall this game might have some lows but the highs clearly outweigh them. If you’re a fan of this card game, we do suggest you to buy this app for your phone as well.
