Spill It doesn’t make things particularly unique; it’s a gaming format that we have seen plenty of times before. In order to proceed to the next level, your target goal is to knock over and spill the glass of wine in every level. To do this you make use of multicolored balls, correct aim, timing, and a basic knowledge of the principles of momentum and physics.

Spill It features tons of different levels that are organized in packs of tens. The first few levels start off simple and basic. Some of the beginning levels also tell you exactly where to drop your levitating ball to knock over the glass. In the later levels, though, the puzzle aspect of this game becomes much more challenging and you’ll need to do some thinking before you drop the ball.

Each level lets you use a set number of colored balls to drop. This is usually around 3 or 4. The lower number of balls you use to knock down and spill the wine glass, the better star rating you’ll get. If you happen to run out of your balls, it’s game over and you’ll need to redo the level again. You can also skip a level if you feel stuck but you’ll probably have to watch a small advert for it.

Additional bonuses and perks can also be attained through watching long video advertisements at the end of each level. Sometimes these ads will pop up without giving you an option to skip them and that’s where the game can get particularly frustrating. The only way to get rid of these jarring ads is by purchasing the ad-free version of the app.

Spill It also offers several different customization features to change things up a bit in the game. This is purely restricted to the appearance of the game though. For example you can unlock several different ball types as well as glass types from the menu. This usually requires a set number of coins that you earn after successfully clearing a level. Some customization options can also be unlocked by following their Instagram page. You can also unlock different sceneries for the game. The standard scenery is of a living room and this continues throughout each level unless you unlock a new skin.

The app design and mechanics of Spill It are commendable. Motion is perfectly illustrated and the sound effects and background music complement the game in the best way possible. The art itself is pretty simple and elementary but the 2D simplicity is good enough for a game like this.

Spill It is an addicting game that forces you to think creatively and devise possible solutions to each level. If you love puzzle games that incorporate physics, perhaps you should give this game a go. Do be warned of the excessive amounts of ads though!
