All you need to do is sign up via your email or Facebook account. Then, you need to give PlantSnap your location access and you’re good to go.

You’ll then be directed into the camera of the PlantSnap application where you can now snap photos of plants. In order to get a correct identification and accurate results, you need to get close up to the leaf or the flower. You can also pinch or expand the image to center it and fit it perfectly in your phone screen. One the app identifies it as a plant, it will let you in all the results and alternative choices. You can then select the result and choose to ‘accept’ it or you can ‘decline’ the result. Once you’ve made your choice, PlantSnap will let users see the plant’s scientific name, category, origin and common locations. The location is a particularly helpful feature because then you can decide whether or not you can grow the particular plant in your garden or not. PlantSnap has a good UI interface but the UI can get a bit bogged down at points. However, the app does a good job a delivers a good percentage of accuracy. Some complex plants might be harder to identify but the accuracy mostly remains over a 40 percent.
