In this bizarre zombie themed game, players form an army of plants (yes, actual plants) to ward of the pack of the living dead that’s all set to invade your house. Plants vs. Zombies has accrued multiple awards over the years and is one of the Editor’s Choice apps on the Google Play Store. While the concept of the game is almost cartoonish, to succeed you must employ a certain level of tact and strategy. Plants vs. Zombies is a free to play game for both Android and iOS users.
In this game, players are tasked to equip and formulate an army of plants that they can bring on the battlefield. You’d expect knights in shining armors or at least a swordsman to take up arms against the impending threat of zombies but in this game, plants rule supreme. The aim of each level is to zap zombies and keep them away from getting to the main door of your house. To do this you can take help from a number of different zombie-zapping plants (49 types to be precise). These plants include peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more.
Plants vs. Zombies features around 50 fun levels. This number might seem small but the levels are challenging enough to keep you occupied in them for months before you finish the whole game. Strategy is the main genre of this game and to really keep the army of the living dead off your household property, you must plan your battles wisely. Apart from the 50 story mode/adventure mode levels, there is a survival mode you can play where the goal is to fend off a continual wave of zombies as long as you please. This is a great mode to hone your skills and earn more in-game currency.
Along with the different variety of plants you can choose to add in your army, there are over 26 different types of zombies with unique abilities and skills that you need to fend off. These zombies include pole-vaulters, snorkelers, bucketheads and more. Since every zombie has its own set of skills and special attacks, you’ll need to know the right way to combat them.
Players can also earn 49 powerful perennials and plant along the way. They can also earn in-game currency or coins during their progress. With this currency, they can buy pet snails, power-ups and a lot of other different bonus features to break the monotony of the game and to add a bit of variety in the game.
Plants vs. Zombies also lets players grow their own Zen garden as a bonus mini game. Speaking of which, the latest update of the game features over 22 different mini games that can all be great to add a little more diversity in the 50-level adventure mode and the same strategy gaming format of Plants vs. Zombies.
This game also lets players flaunt their achievements in the game and share them with their friends or other players in the game in the achievements tab. Players can earn over 46 awesome achievements after they meet the set requirements.
EA Games is known for making some pretty stellar games and Plants vs. Zombies is no exception. The mobile version of Plants vs. Zombies is however no match for the PC version of this same game. There have been technical errors in this mobile version and the controls of this game are considerably poorer when compared to the PC version.
