Fans of the horror genre are missing out on quite a lot if they haven’t gotten around to play Five Nights at Freddy’s. This popular title has been around for a while as a PC game and now it’s ported to smartphones. You’ve seen your favorite YouTuber play this game before, you’ve heard of the animatronic bear that haunts the games, but have you ever really tried it yourself? If not, it’s a must. But make sure you’re old enough to handle the chills because this is a game that’s come straight out of a nightmare.
The storyline is important in this game. Five Nights at Freddy’s starts out as a peaceful, fun game where players take on a new summer job as a watch guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Kids and adults come around the entire day for pizza and entertainment. In particular are the three animatronic robot bears, Freddy Fazbear and his friends that are a focal source of entertainment. But what unfolds after the sun sets is a whole different story.
As your duty in the night shift, it’s up to you to monitor the pizzeria. From a small office you must watch over all the security cameras carefully. You also have a limited supply of electricity so the power can shut out any time. And once the power goes out, there’s no light and there’s definitely no security. That’s when you need to keep a close eye for Freddy Fazbear and his friends for they never seem to be in their proper places. They can jump at you at any time and they can even attack you. It’s up to you to protect yourself and keep your eyes peeled. But no matter how hard you try, you’re probably going to get ambushed and die.
Five Nights at Freddy’s executes the genre of horror and jump scares exquisitely. Even the graphics and sounds set the right mood for a horror movie that’s about to unfold. Before Five Nights at Freddy’s we would have never thought robot bears could be so sinister but the game really makes this point obvious through its excellent gameplay and dark themes.
The gameplay of Five Nights at Freddy’s is pretty rudimentary. All you can do is walk around, watch, and perform a few actions. These actions take up your power so you need to proceed with caution. The gameplay of this horror game is mostly about keeping yourself safe than actually doing something. It’s a constant roller coaster of chills and adrenaline pumping and there will be times when Freddy or his other insidious friends will catch you unguarded and leave you screaming – quite literally.
The music is also quite absorbing and sets in an even more intense mood. It spikes when something bad is about to happen and that’s when your heart starts racing.
Five Nights at Freddy has received tremendous feedback over the years and is one of the most loved horror games to date. It doesn’t really have any elements of violence, gore or blood but the horror and jumps scares themselves are enough to rate this app appropriate for children 12 years and up. In fact, we think that this game will terrify children and adults alike. So if you’re not someone who can take horror easily or is vulnerable to frightening content, we suggest you don’t play Five Nights at Freddy’s. Five Nights at Freddy’s is not a free game to play. It needs to be purchased through the app store. The game also offers some additional in-app purchases that users can make.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is one of the top apps in the Action app category, which belongs to Scott Cawthon.
